This is a program taken from JUMPDISK April Issue. The author of the program gave permission for us to use it. He also indicated that he does a schedule for football and is hoping to do a yearly update on both his baseball program and the football program.
--------------------------------------
So you live in Salem, Oregon, and your favorite baseball team is the
Giants, and you want to know is whom they play next weekend. Or you wonder
how many games long their next home stand is, or when they play the Dodgers
next.
You get out the Official Major League Baseball Schedule, you know, the
one with all the nice little boxes with home games in the columns and road
games in the tows. You look for today's date in one of the little boxes. It
takes forever, and even if you find today's date it only tells you what team
the Giants play today. If you want to find out who they play next week, you
have to go searching again.
There is a better way.
I wanted a calendar that listed all baseball games for a given team.
Assuming there are a few people out there who are not Giants fans, I
wrote a program to display all 26 teams. You can also keep track of wins,
losses and those all-important rainouts by clicking on the calendar day and
responding to the requester. This will allow you to note trends, so you can
look back and say, "If only they hadn't lost eight of the first 10 games in
September, maybe they could have made a run for the division title!"
Plus, you can change the schedule when you have to add a make-up date,
or change a single game to a double-header, or erase a date. But be careful
making changes, because the program automatically changes the schedules of
both teams involved. However, if you really foul things up, you can still
exit without saving the "TeamData" file to disk.
By the way, I do know how to spell Cincinnati. Since I had a limit of
nine letters, I dropped an N.
The colors are basic and dark, with a white background in case you want
to make a hard copy of a month using your favorite screen dump program. If
you're strictly a Workbench user, press the "left-Amiga + N" key combination
to return to the Workbench. Then open your Workbench disk and the System
drawer and double-click on the GraphicDump icon. You have a few seconds to
press "left-Amiga + M" to bring back the Calendar screen before printing
begins.
There's not much more to explain that isn't explained in the program
itself. Once you've selected a team, use the arrow keys to move through the
months, or press the function key that matches the number of the month you
want displayed.
You can move backward and forward through the months by clicking in the
tiny left- and right-hand margins.
And if you don't like baseball, forget I ever bothered you.
